Ichigo Kurosaki is a high school student with orange hair and an overwhelming sense of justice. He lives with his father and two younger sisters. Since childhood, he has had the ability to see ghosts, though he never thought much of it. One night, a monster known as a Hollow attacks Ichigo and his family. Rukia Kuchiki, a Soul Reaper who followed the monster, is severely injured and forced to transfer her powers to Ichigo so that he can take over her duties. Unexpectedly, this "substitute" role becomes permanent. After some time, the Soul Society discovers Rukia's violation of the rules and comes to arrest her. To save his friend, Ichigo, with the help of Kisuke Urahara, the owner of Urahara Shop, gathers his friends Orihime Inoue, Uryu Ishida, and Yasutora Sado, and heads to the Soul Society.
