The story depicts a Holy War that took place 243 years before the era of the original Saint Seiya series (which is established as 1990 in Next Dimension). The narrative centers on characters such as Libra Dohko and Aries Shion, who are revealed in the main series to be survivors of this previous Holy War; Pegasus Tenma, the Pegasus Saint of this era; Alone, Tenma's best friend chosen by Hades to serve as the vessel for his reincarnation; and Sasha, Athena's reincarnation (who does not appear in Next Dimension). There are numerous setting inconsistencies between these two works, for which no official explanation has been provided.
