Havoc in Heaven

The film primarily depicts the experiences of Sun Wukong from his birth to his havoc in Heaven, based on the classic novel Journey to the West. The first part of Havoc in Heaven was officially released in 1961, causing a sensation domestically. In 1964, after the second part was completed, the full film could not be released due to changes in cultural policies. The complete version of Havoc in Heaven was finally released in 1978. In 2004, marking the 40th anniversary of Havoc in Heaven, Shanghai Animation Film Studio specially released a collector's edition DVD of the film, with a total length of 85 minutes, which was a cinema version screened in 1964. In 2009, a fan-restored version based on the 40th-anniversary edition appeared online, featuring more stable and cleaner images, reinserting over twenty minutes of content missing from the 40th-anniversary edition, and correcting the audio.
