In the PS2 game Makai Senki Disgaea, the story follows Laharl, a prince of the Demon World. After his father, the Overlord, dies, he embarks on an adventure to inherit the throne and become the new King of the Demon World. He quells rebellious factions across the land to rebuild his own dynasty in the Demon World. The anime adaptation of Makai Senki Disgaea inherits the background of the PS2 game, featuring a cute chibi art style and hilarious nonsensical comedy. It stars many renowned voice actors, including Kaori Mizuhashi, Tomoe Hanba, Yuko Sasamoto, Nobuo Tobita, Chiwa Saito, Yurika Ochiai, Chihiro Suzuki, Kouta Miyata, Junji Majima, and Tsuyoshi Ohisaka.
