Portrait of Cosette

Eri Kurahashi, an art university student working at the antique shop "Kanrandou," becomes captivated by a lovely blonde-eyed girl reflected in an old cut-glass goblet, secretly enjoying the pleasure of this encounter with a non-human illusion. Kanrandou is located in the center of Zenkōji Shopping Street, where many young and beautiful women come and go, but Eri has no interest in them, remaining obsessed only with the girl in the glass. On the seventh night, Eri sees an illusion in the cut-glass goblet of himself killing the girl. Then, blood overflows from the goblet, the girl's illusion materializes, and she forces Eri to make a contract. The girl, named "Cosette," demands that Eri save her soul, which wanders within "cursed vessels." "Drink it, if you don't want to be separated... if you don't want to lose me," forced by Cosette, Eri drinks the blood from the goblet, sealing a "blood contract." The next day, when Eri wakes up, he can no longer see Cosette's figure in the goblet. He treats it all as a dream, pulls himself together, and sells the goblet to a wealthy nouveau riche. However, when delivering the item to the rich man's home, Eri sees the materialized Cosette there. Returning home, unable to suppress his desire to see Cosette again, Eri goes back to the rich man's house, only to find the bodies of the rich man and his mistress...
