Tower of Druaga: The Aegis of URUK

An adaptation of the single-player arcade/Famicom game released on July 20, 1984. The game 'Tower of Druaga' tells a fantasy story in which the protagonist Gilgamesh becomes a golden knight to rescue his lover Kai, who was captured by the demon Druaga, and ascends the 60-floor 'Tower of Druaga/Maze Tower,' fighting monsters as he heads toward the top floor. Since its development in the 1980s, it was highly popular at the time, and this anime features an original story set in the world several years after the events of the original work. The animation director is Koichi Chigira, known for directing the anime 'Blue Submarine No. 6' and 'Last Exile.' The series composition was handled by Shoji Gatoh, the series director for the anime adaptation of the novel 'Full Metal Panic!' and the scriptwriter for 'The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya' and 'Lucky Star.' The character designs are by Uzuki Katarina, the original artist who gained popularity through the anime 'Burst Angel,' while Masanobu Endo, who oversaw the production of the original game, will also participate in supervising the work.
