Bokurano

During summer vacation, fifteen boys and girls arrive at a nature school. There, they meet a mysterious man who calls himself "KOKOPERI" (Cocobeli) and invites them to begin a "game." This so-called game involves piloting giant robots to fight against robots attacking Earth. Thinking it is just an ordinary computer game, the fifteen children sign a contract. However, they do not know the true meaning of this game, nor do they understand the heavy price paid for piloting the robots. Through battle after battle, the children transition from excitement over the game due to their ignorance of the truth, to the pain of watching their companions slowly disappear as they learn the truth. Their various reactions when realizing that the next pilot chosen might be themselves, yet unable to break the contract, reveal the most authentic aspects of human nature—panic, anger, and grief. Furthermore, each child's unique life experiences expose the dark side of the world.
