To You in the Beyond

Waki, a boy who transferred to Saeki Island, an isolated island surrounded by nature, encounters a girl named Nao Akika lying unconscious at a place known as the "Bay of Disappearance." Nao claims she comes from 1974 and is protected with the help of Waki and Mr. Takatsu, who happens to be present. Driven by curiosity, Waki begins visiting her frequently after school until one day, Nao reveals a shocking secret. When past and present intersect, two people hiding their respective secrets embark on a future that unfolds before them. This film is adapted from Abeno Akiko's youth novel of the same name. The original work moved countless readers with its themes of encounters across time, partings, and redemption, while the movie delicately recreates the novel's gentle and moving emotional world.
