The series continuation was announced by creator and executive director Dave Filoni via StarWars.com on April 2, 2026, just days before the first episodes of Maul - Shadow Lord Season 1 premiered on April 6.In an interview on April 30, 2026, Sam Witwer, who voices Maul, shared that, though he couldn't share his knowledge of when the second season would release, fans wouldn't have to wait "too, too long," as the season had already been worked on "for a while," and was following the "usual development cycle."
