The story follows Kyoko Mogami, a junior high school graduate from Kyoto who gave up her chance to attend high school and moved to Tokyo at the request of her childhood friend, Sho Fuwa. While Sho worked hard to become an entertainer, Kyoko took on multiple jobs every day to support him, neglecting herself without complaint. Shortly after arriving in Tokyo, Sho rose to fame and began distancing himself from Kyoko. Eventually, Kyoko discovered that Sho had only been using her. Devastated by this betrayal, she lost all desire to love or be loved. When Sho told her, "If you want revenge, then enter the entertainment industry," Kyoko vowed to become an actress fueled by intense resentment, determined to crush Sho Fuwa. (The subsequent plot details her efforts and progress.)
