Maria Watches Over Us Season 4

At Lillian Girls' Academy, there is a tradition known as the sœur system (sœur meaning "sister" in French), where second- or third-year students give a rosary to a lower-grade student, making her their little sister. The older student, acting as the big sister, promises to care for and guide her. When the story begins, Yumi Fukuzawa prays at the statue of the Virgin Mary near the school entrance like other students do, and encounters second-year Shoko Ogasawara. Shoko simply walks over to adjust Yumi's ribbon. This seemingly simple act is photographed by Yumi's friend Touko, who drags Yumi to the Rose Mansion after school that day so she can feature the photo in the school festival publication. However, Yumi bumps into Shoko, who is rushing out of the conference room at the Rose Mansion. Upon seeing Yumi, Shoko asks her to become her little sister. It turns out Shoko was required to play the lead role in the school festival play, but because she dislikes boys, she refuses to participate. Her big sister says, "Those without a little sister have no right to voice their opinion." Shoko happened upon Yumi, finding an ideal candidate for a little sister. Initially, Yumi feels unworthy of becoming Shoko's little sister, but after several events, the two finally break down barriers and become sisters. Later, Yumi helps the Yama Yuri Kai (Rose Society) with student council duties alongside the senior members, and becomes friends with Yoshino Shimazu and Tomoko Todo. Through events such as Valentine's Day and graduation ceremonies, everyone bonds before the Virgin Mary. The story of Maria Watching Over Us revolves around these small tales of the girls in the Yama Yuri Kai.
