Elin, the Beast Musician

The story's heroine is Elin, a young girl who lives with her mother, a veterinarian. One day, all five battle-serpents cared for by her mother die overnight. This is deemed the caretaker's responsibility, leading to her mother being subjected to the brutal punishment of being swallowed alive by a serpent. Although Elin tries to save her mother, she herself nearly becomes prey alongside her due to her young age. Fortunately, one serpent controlled by her mother's finger-whistle rescues Elin. As an orphan, Elin receives help from an elderly beekeeper named John and begins living independently. During this time, she gains a deeper and clearer understanding of living creatures and the world in which she exists. While in the mountains, she encounters a Sky-Beast soaring through the air. Captivated by the sight of these beasts, which never become close to humans nor allow themselves to be domesticated, Elin resolves to become a doctor for Sky-Beasts. She then goes to the Kazam Sky-Beast Sanctuary to begin her studies. Elin grows rapidly as she strives to understand, help, and live alongside the Sky-Beasts. However, she discovers that the silent beast-pipes humans use to command Sky-Beasts and serpents cause the animals to stiffen temporarily. She begins to question whether these pipes place a burden on their bodies. She starts attempting to communicate with the Sky-Beasts, using her excellent memory to accurately record their vocalizations and reproduce them perfectly. As she learns more about the ecological mysteries of the Sky-Beasts, though not by her own intent, she naturally emerges as a new force distinct from the True King and the Grand Duke. Soon after, Elin finds herself standing in a position capable of influencing the fate of the kingdom...
