Sailor Moon

The protagonist, Usagi Tsukino, is a clumsy and crybaby second-year middle school student. One day, while rushing to school late as usual, she saves a black cat named Luna who has a crescent moon mark on her forehead. Luna looks at the girl who saved her and seems to have an idea... As per usual, Usagi receives another failing grade on a test at school. While complaining to her classmates Naru and Umino, they talk about Sailor V, a mysterious hero who frequently appears to fight evil. Naru also mentions that her mother's jewelry store is having a sale and invites Usagi to come along for some fun. Usagi and Naru visit Naru's mother's store to look at the jewelry. Usagi likes the pieces and wants to buy one, but gives up because she doesn't have enough allowance. Naru suggests she ask her mother, but when Usagi thinks about her poor grades, she sighs in helplessness three times. Leaving the store intending to go home, Usagi takes out her failed test paper again. Frustrated and embarrassed, she crumples it up and throws it away, only to hit a young man wearing dark sunglasses on the head. The young man picks up the crumpled test, unfolds it, sees Usagi's failing score, and teases her about it. Angered by the teasing, Usagi snatches the test back and walks off angrily. However, at that moment, the young man removes his sunglasses and looks toward the jewelry store, seemingly deep in thought... After leaving the jewelry store, Usagi sees an advertisement on the street for an upcoming Sailor V video game. She admires Sailor V, feeling inferior by comparison, and sighs as she continues on her way home. At this time, the black cat Luna reappears and secretly follows her home... Naturally, Usagi's mother Ikuko scolds her upon learning of her bad test scores. Upset after being yelled at, Usagi returns to her room to rest. Luna quietly sneaks into Usagi's room. Surprised to see Luna, Usagi is even more shocked when the cat suddenly speaks! Thinking she is dreaming, Usagi pulls the covers over her head trying to wake up. Resigned, Luna conjures a brooch and gives it to Usagi. Innocent Usagi is delighted to receive the brooch and, following Luna's instructions, chants a "spell." As a result, the transformed Usagi becomes...?!
