Kodomo no Omocha

The work explores modern social issues such as classroom breakdown, juvenile delinquency, family dysfunction, and parental divorce from the perspective of a "child." It transcends typical shōjo manga conventions, gaining support across various age groups. The protagonist is a child star, a role that was highly prominent when the series was launched. Between the early stages of the manga serialization and the anime's debut in 1996, child stars were a hot societal topic. However, by 1998, when the craze had faded in both the entertainment industry and society at large, the manga concluded its run. Rumors circulated that a second part would be produced if the child star boom continued, but this ultimately never materialized. In the ending, due to the decline of the child star trend, the popularity of the protagonist, Sana Kurata, significantly diminishes, which simultaneously hints at her internal transformation and growth.
