This is the story of a group of "Hunters." Hunters are individuals who pursue rare entities such as monsters, treasures, bounties, gourmet food, ruins, and mythical beasts. As the elite among elites, hunters enjoy free access to public facilities worldwide but must pass high-difficulty examinations to obtain their licenses. There are only about 600 hunters in the entire world. Gon, a kind-hearted, innocent, and passionate boy, decides to become a hunter to find his missing father, known as the greatest hunter in legend. Along the way during the Hunter Examination, he meets Killua, a cold-blooded boy; Kurapika, a beautiful young man; and Leorio, who appears mature for his age. These four boys, each with different goals yet all aspiring to be hunters, become close friends. Together, they embark on their journey as hunters and face their greatest enemy—the Phantom Troupe.
