SAMURAI 7

The story is set in a distant future on what may or may not be Earth. After a long war ended, many samurai degenerated into ronin who committed evil deeds. The village of Kannu is rich in white rice, and every year at harvest time, the ronin come to the village to steal the white rice that the villagers have diligently grown; those who resist are killed without mercy. Unable to fight back against these mechanized ronin, the villagers have no choice but to let them plunder. In addition to white rice, the ronin also arbitrarily abduct women. Finally reaching their limit, the villagers decide to hire samurai to combat the ronin. Farmer Rikichi, the "Water Priestess" Kiri, and her younger sister Komachi represent Kannu Village and travel to the city to find samurai. Kannu Village has no money and can only offer white rice as payment for the samurai. Finding samurai is not easy; to defeat the numerous ronin, they need to find at least seven samurai. It is adapted from the 1954 film *Seven Samurai* directed by Akira Kurosawa, specifically produced in anime form fifty years after the film's release. According to records, the entire production of *Samurai 7* cost approximately 700 million yen.
