The Prince of Tennis

At the start of the new school term, a first-year student named Echizen Ryoma joins Seishun Academy's powerhouse tennis club. Although he stands up for other new members against upperclassmen bullying them, his attitude is so arrogant that he quickly ends up challenging his seniors to matches to settle things. Surprisingly, his skill level is astonishingly high, catching the attention of the club coach and captain Tezuka, who makes an exception by selecting him for the regular team, beginning their journey toward the national tournament... In fact, Ryoma's father, Echizen Nanjiro, was once a fleeting star on the world professional tennis circuit, defeating all top pros in America to win a championship before retiring from tennis for unknown reasons and living in seclusion at a Japanese temple. Ryoma learned tennis from a young age under his father's teasing guidance; for him, tennis wasn't a hobby but a means to defeat his father, creating an intimidating figure in his mind that seemed impossible to surpass. Through interactions with teammates and opponents during matches, Ryoma gradually comes to see a more meaningful goal—the national tournament—freeing himself from the pressure of surpassing his father and embarking on his own tennis career in pursuit of the champion's dream.
