Due to the 2020 Keishiro Naumo incident, Team AOI was banned from competition for one year. During this suspension, Kaga endured, waiting for a rematch with Hayato Kazami. However, just before the start of the 2022 season, the A98 board proposed withdrawing from the Cyber Formula series. It was only through the strenuous efforts of Kyoko Aoi, who had returned to her position as team leader, that an agreement was reached: if Team AOI failed to win the World Championship in 2022, they would permanently withdraw from Cyber Formula racing.
