Toward the Terra

Earth has entered a state of decline due to long-term destruction, forcing humanity to migrate to other planets. To avoid repeating the mistakes of environmental pollution, humans invented a special ruling system (S.D.) and use the mechanical computer "Mother Machine" to manage and control human thought. Under this system, children must undergo an "Adult Check" at age fourteen. The check erases their memories, re-educates them based on their aptitude in educational institutions, and then sends them to adult planets. However, children with "Mu" abilities cannot pass the Adult Check; those who fail are sentenced to death. Consequently, escaped Mus attempt to find a planet where they can live. The protagonist Jomy Marks, a Mu, refuses to have his mother's memory erased during his Adult Check and unleashes tremendous psychic power against the checking system, "Drash Five." He is ultimately saved by Solan Buu, the first leader of the MUs, and sent to the MU gathering place—the spaceship "Shangri-La." Initially, Jomy believes he is human and different from the MUs, but after witnessing Buu's painful past memories, he agrees to become the second Solan Buu. Although Jomy's immediate appointment as Solan Buu causes dissatisfaction among some MUs, he eventually gains their acceptance. Jomy continuously represents the MUs in fighting for their right to exist alongside humans, inheriting Buu's wish to lead the MUs in search of the legendary beautiful blue planet—Terra (Earth). The MUs constantly resist humanity, hoping to coexist with humans and find a route to Earth. Meanwhile, humans desire the extermination of the MUs, viewing the MUs' powerful psychic abilities as making them akin to "wolves" compared to humans as "sheep," believing the two cannot coexist. Facing merciless suppression by humanity, can the peace-seeking MUs still hold onto the idea of "coexistence with humans"...?
