The Old Man and the Sea

The Old Man and the Sea tells the story of Santiago, an aging Cuban fisherman who, after eighty-four days without a catch, finally hooks a massive marlin alone. The fish is so large that it drags his small boat across the sea for three days until it is exhausted, at which point he kills it and ties it to the side of the boat. On the journey home, he faces repeated shark attacks, ultimately returning to port with only the head, tail, and backbone of the fish.
