More than 2,000 years ago, during the late Eastern Han Dynasty in China, a period of warlords and fragmentation, three historical heroes emerged to bring peace to the land: Cao Cao, son of a eunuch; Liu Bei, who rose from weaving straw sandals; and Sun Quan, descendant of generals. Each established their own state—Wei, Shu, and Wu—marking what later generations would fondly recount as the Three Kingdoms era. The protagonist is not Liu Bei, but Cao Cao, Emperor Wu of Wei, described as "a cunning hero in times of chaos, a capable minister in times of order," possessing unparalleled charisma and strategic genius beyond his contemporaries. Based on Records of the Three Kingdoms, this classic manga follows the life of Cao Cao, narrating his turbulent journey from age five to sixty-six.
