Slayers

Long, long ago... In the primordial Sea of Chaos, a single pure will was born from the endless darkness. The power generated by this will caused the void-like Sea of Chaos to change. Like a creator, she divided countless worlds, which were supported above the sea by pillars resembling long staffs. She is the mother of all things in existence. Thus, there came gods and demons... and also humans. Gods and demons are in constant conflict; the gods fight to protect the world, while the demons fight to seize the staffs and destroy it. The Creator has fallen into slumber... She is revered by the demon race as the Great King--the Golden Demon Lord, the bringer of nightmares. In this world, the Red-Eyed Demon Lord Ruby Eye and the Dragon God Xellos fought for their respective purposes... Xellos exhausted himself defeating Ruby Eye and split him into seven parts... But Xellos was tired too, so to guard against the demon race's actions, he split into four incarnations to watch over the four directions. A thousand years ago, a part of the Demon Lord awakened. Leading the demon forces, it challenged one of Xellos' incarnations--the Water Dragon King. Four of the Demon Lord's five subordinates set up barriers, while it and the Magic Dragon King directly dueled the Water Dragon King. The Demon Lord's plan failed. Ruby Eye was defeated, and the Magic Dragon King was sealed. The demon race's activities gradually fell silent... One thousand years later, a genius beautiful girl was born. Her name is Lina Inverse, and together with her companion Gourry Gabriev, she embarks on a journey. However, the demon race still does not cease its movements. They await the return of the true king--that is, the Golden Demon Lord, the bringer of nightmares...
