The history of the After Colony (A.C.) era began when humanity started developing space. One hundred years after the completion of the first space colony, L1, the Earth Unified Sphere controlled the colonies as subordinate military forces. In A.C. 165, space residents launched a resistance against the Earth sphere. The mediator in this conflict was Heero Yuy, a pacifist and non-violent advocate who traveled to various colonies and Earth to spread his ideals through speeches. However, he was assassinated in A.C. 175 (one theory suggests the assassin was an agent from the precursor group to OZ). Subsequently, the colonies fell into chaos and were suppressed by special intelligence units (the precursors to OZ). Later, the Kingdom of Sangoku, which advocated for peace on Earth, was also destroyed. In A.C. 195, strong advocates within the colonies who opposed the Earth sphere's dominance sent five Gundams to Earth, initiating "Operation Meteor" against the special intelligence units.
