Princess Mononoke

Ashitaka, the last prince of the Emishi clan during the era of the Yamato kingship, is cursed by a demon and suffers an incurable wound while defending his village. The village shaman advises him to travel west to find the source of the demon and a way to lift the curse. On his journey, he arrives at the forest of the Forest Spirit and meets San, known as "Princess Mononoke," who was raised by wolf gods. During this process, Ashitaka discovers that the demon was originally a boar god, but became a demon due to immense hatred for humans after being shot with an iron ball. The iron balls were manufactured in the industrial city of Irontown, ruled by Lady Eboshi, who leads the poor people living there. To protect herself from being annexed by greedy feudal lords, Eboshi uses firearms and iron balls as weapons. However, to produce these weapons, she must harvest wood and iron ore from nature, which brings her into conflict with the animal spirits of the primeval forest. Ashitaka attempts to mediate between the two sides, but finds himself increasingly drawn deep into the conflict.
