Kekkaishi

Yoshimori Sumimura is an elementary school student who, though reluctant, must inherit the family tradition of being a Kekkaishi. Because the mark representing the legitimate heir to the Kenren-ryu barrier arts has appeared on his body, his grandfather has subjected him to rigorous training since childhood to ensure he becomes a worthy successor. Currently, his grandfather has entrusted Yoshimori with the duty of protecting Utsunomori and enjoys his retirement. Tokine Yukimura, his childhood friend who is older than him, is also the new generation's successor from the Yukimura clan, which claims to possess the legitimate qualification for the Kenren-ryu barrier arts as well. However, one day, while the two were performing their duties as Kekkaishi in Utsunomori as usual, Tokine was severely injured while protecting Yoshimori. This event led Yoshimori to resolve to become stronger.
