Ueki no Housoku

In the winter of his sixth-grade year, Kousuke Ueki of Class 1-C at Hinokuni Junior High received an incredible ability from his current homeroom teacher, Mr. Kobayashi: he can turn anything he considers trash into trees, provided the item is small enough to be covered by his palm. Ai Mori, a classmate of Ueki's, noticed his supernatural power and began following him. Along the way, she was harassed by a group of delinquents, but Ueki stepped in to rescue her. However, Mr. Kobayashi appeared and warned that Ueki would face "a punishment for using his ability." The next day, Ueki lost his "talent" (ability) to attract girls. (Because Mr. Kobayashi intervened, this punishment had some deviation, allowing Ueki to still become friends with Reiko and Marilyn.) The war in which Ueki became involved was actually a battle among 100 candidates for the throne of God. Each candidate selected one middle school student and granted them a specific ability to fight. The candidate whose representative emerges victorious will become the next God. As for the winning student, they can claim the "Blank Talent" (which allows the holder to possess any desired talent) as their own. Besides Ueki's ability to "turn trash into trees," numerous enemies and rivals possessing other abilities appear. To prevent the "Blank Talent" from falling into the hands of evil people, Ueki decides to uphold his justice and protect it.
