Mobile Police Patlabor 2: The Movie

Several years ago, a tank platoon of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force was ambushed in Southeast Asia. All members were killed except for their captain, Shigeto Tsuge. Time returns to the present. An explosion suddenly occurs on the Rainbow Bridge, plunging the public into panic. A man named Shigeki Arakawa, claiming to be from the Self-Defense Force's investigation division, approaches Gotou and Nanami. He informs them that the bridge was actually attacked by missiles fired from unidentified fighter jets, and he suspects that Tsuge, who has been missing for a long time, is the prime suspect. While Gotou and his team ask Matsui for assistance with the investigation, false air raid alerts begin appearing across Japan, mostly targeting the Tokyo metropolitan area. This causes the military and police departments to fall into a state of mutual conflict and confusion. To prevent further incidents, the government deploys units of the Self-Defense Force loyal to it into Tokyo. Through Matsui's relentless efforts, clues regarding Tsuge are finally found. Nanami also realizes that her former lover is indeed the mastermind behind the turmoil. However, due to Arakawa's involvement, Tsuge does not contact Nanami again and completely vanishes into the night. The ominous prelude finally comes true: Tokyo's communication systems suddenly suffer a total blackout, rendering the troops stationed throughout the city blind and unable to act effectively. At this moment, a massive airship loaded with poison gas approaches the defenseless city...
