The Tibetan Mastiff

The animated film "The Tibetan Mastiff" is adapted from Yang Zhijun's bestselling 2005 novel "Tibetan Mastiff." Produced jointly by China Film Group, the Japanese animation studio MADHOUSE, and Ciwen Ziguang Digital Film & Television Co., Ltd. over more than four years, it was officially released on July 12, 2011. Directed by Masayuki Kojima, known for acclaimed anime works such as "Monster," "Hanada Shonen-shi," and "Piano no Mori" (Forest of Piano), the character designs were created by Naoki Urasawa, one of Japan's most renowned contemporary manga artists. The story takes place long ago on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. After his mother dies of illness, a boy named Tian Jin moves to the Tibetan grasslands to live with his father, finding everything unfamiliar. One day, a Tibetan Mastiff with golden fur appears before him, seemingly descending from the sky. He adopts the dog and names him "Dorje Yundrung." However, this happiness is short-lived, as attacks on humans and livestock begin occurring across the grasslands, leading many to suspect Dorje is responsible. Behind the suspicions of others lies something even more mysterious. What is that golden-furred Tibetan Mastiff searching for? What legendary tale will unfold in the snowy highlands?
