Akiko Natsume is the president of Mishima Enterprises. One day, her husband Kyosaku Natsume, a researcher at the company, learns that the humanoid robot he is developing will be used as a weapon by the chairman of the Mishima Group (Akiko's grandfather). He flees with the prototype robot NK-1124 and their son Ryunosuke. On Christmas Eve, while Ryunosuke argues with Kyosaku about wanting to adopt a stray cat, they are discovered by Akiko's pursuers, Kyouko and Arisa, and attacked by a new helicopter, Poison 1. In the chaos, the cat Ryunosuke had picked up is hit by a stray bullet. Seeing how devastated Ryunosuke is, Kyosaku feels pity for the cat and transplants its brain into NK-1124. Thus begins the story of Neko-Nyan, revived as an all-purpose cat-brained robot, and the people around her.
