∀ Gundam

The story is set in the distant future, where some humans left the Solar System and developed a highly advanced civilization. A discarded mobile suit from that civilization (the Turn X) drifted back to Earth. The people of Earth were shocked to discover the existence of this superior extraterrestrial civilization, realizing they could not even reverse-engineer a single abandoned unit (though the process led to the creation of the Turn A). Humanity on Earth split into two factions: one believed they should continue developing their current civilization at full speed to catch up; the other argued that catching up was impossible through continued development alone, and that destroying their existing civilization and rebuilding it via different methods was the only way to succeed. These two factions fought using the Turn X and Turn A respectively. During the conflict, the Turn A devastated Earth's civilization. Survivors who remained on Earth rebuilt society, eventually reaching a technological level similar to the Second Industrial Revolution. Meanwhile, the residents of Von Braun on the Moon, known as the Moonrace, had preserved the high technology of the ancient Earth civilization (though still vastly inferior to the extra-solar civilizations). Desiring to return to Earth, the Moonrace sent an "advance party" for experimental immigration and contact with the surviving humans on Earth. Two years later, after confirming the advance party's successful adaptation to contemporary Earth, the Moonrace dispatched the Dianna Counter to America (formerly the Americas) to prepare for lunar immigration. This action angered the various territories within America. Subsequent negotiations failed, leading to small-scale conflicts between Earth and the Moon. Later, Jimmings Gin Kalam, the leader of the Moonrace military forces known as the God of War, rebelled and joined the war. Roland, a member of the Dianna Counter, had spent two years adapting to and integrating with local life. During his coming-of-age ceremony, he encountered an attack on his village by the Dianna Returners. Unintentionally, he activated the MS Turn A Gundam—a machine mistaken by Earthlings for a deity, which was actually the most powerful weapon of the old Earth defense forces (once capable of bringing human civilization to the brink of extinction). Thus, the story officially begins.
