NANA

Nana originally belonged to a band called Black Stones, along with Ren Honjo. However, Ren was later invited to join Trapnest, an emerging superstar in the Japanese pop scene, as their guitarist in Tokyo. At that time, Nana believed that living with Ren was not the entirety of her life, so she tearfully gave up her happiness as a woman and broke up with him. Determined to prove herself, she stayed in her hometown to continue honing her singing skills, hoping to one day make a living through her own voice. Nana waited for an opportunity to move to Tokyo, and two years later, she finally decided to go there. Subsequently, other members of Black Stones, Nobu Terashima and Yasushi Takagi, also followed her to Tokyo. The other NANA—Nana Komatsu—is a gentle but indecisive and talkative girl. Since Oosaki Nana felt that Komatsu's personality resembled that of a puppy, she nicknamed her "Hachi" (Eight). Komatsu grew up in a small town far from the city, making her personality more childlike. Because she tends to fall in love at first sight, she often views people around her as potential romantic interests. Junko, who provided important emotional support during Komatsu's high school years, had to leave Komatsu behind to attend an art and design college in Tokyo. Komatsu attempted to follow both Junko and her boyfriend, Shoji Endo, to study in Tokyo, but ultimately failed in both attempts. After waiting silently for a long time, she finally learned that her boyfriend Shoji had been accepted into his ideal art and design college, giving her the chance to move to Tokyo. Oosaki Nana and Komatsu Nana met on the Shinkansen bullet train heading to Tokyo. Coincidentally, they decided to share Room 707 in an apartment. Despite having completely different personalities, the two women who share the name NANA gradually came to admire each other over time, building a firm friendship filled with laughter and tears.
