The story takes place in a small town. Tomoya Okazaki is a student at Hikarizaka High School who has been living a listless life due to family circumstances. He participates in no club activities, and his only friend is Youhei Sunohara. One day on his way to school, he encounters a girl—Nagisa Furukawa—on a hillside where cherry blossoms are dancing, and his life begins to change from that moment on. Nagisa had taken a year off school due to illness, and upon her return, she feels quite out of place in the environment. She wants to join the Drama Club, but it has long been disbanded. Tomoya decides to help her revive the Drama Club's activities, and their relationship grows increasingly close. Shortly after, Tomoya meets a genius girl named Kotomi Ichinose in the library.
