GunBuster

In the 21st century, humanity begins to explore space. However, a swarm of cosmic organisms (commonly known as Space-Time Monster Cores, or STMCs), which reproduce using stars as hosts, launches an attack, posing a grave threat to human civilization. To combat these STMCs, robotic weapons and space battleships are continuously developed, with pilots selected from the winners of robot training schools on Earth. In 2015, following humanity's first contact with the STMCs in history, the story's heroine, Noriko Takaya, enters a robot training school to undergo training. She pilots Gunbuster, humanity's most powerful weapon against the STMCs, beginning her mission to protect Earth.
