Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion

In 2010, the superpower Holy Britannian Empire invaded Japan to seize its underground resources. Under assault by the Empire's powerful Knightmare weapons, Japan was conquered in less than a month. The Japanese were stripped of their freedom, rights, and even their national identity; the Holy Britannian Empire renamed "Japan" as "Area 11," and the term "Japanese" was replaced by the number "11." On the surface, the Empire's rule appeared unshakeable, but cracks had already begun to form within it. Seven years later, in 2017, the world is shaped by two figures: Lelouch, the Black Prince who gained the power of "Geass" on the brink of death and vows to destroy the Holy Britannian Empire, and Suzaku Kururugi, the White Knight who pilots the seventh-generation humanoid mecha Lancelot and aims to reform the Empire from within.
