Mobile Suit Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory

In U.C. 0080, the One Year War finally came to an end. However, there were still individuals within the Principality of Zeon who refused to accept defeat and remained hostile toward the Earth Federation. Just as large numbers of Zeon remnants were exiled to the asteroid base Axis, Vice Admiral Anavel Gato of Zeon secretly gathered remnants of the Principality's forces who refused to go to Axis, forming the Delaz Fleet. In March 0080, they arrived in the Konpeitō (Trinity) reef zone between Earth and the Moon and began constructing "Garden of Fin," a military base intended as an anti-Federation stronghold. In May 0081, Zena Reuss, the widow of Dozle Zabi, the third son of the Zabi family, died of illness at Axis. Her young daughter, Mineva Zabi, became the last surviving bloodline of the Zabi family. On August 15, taking advantage of the Principality of Zeon's national holiday, the Delaz Fleet launched riots. To prevent another war, the Federation Council passed the Federation Military Reconstruction Plan on October 13. As part of this plan, on October 20, under the supervision of Vice Admiral Joe Kowing, Anaheim Electronics (AE), the largest arms manufacturer in the Federation at the time with its headquarters on the Moon, initiated the Gundam Development Project to create advanced Mobile Suits. In November, the Delaz Fleet confirmed a joint front with Axis. In April 0082, the Federation Military decided to establish a Newtype Research Institute. In May, the Colony Regeneration Plan was implemented, and reconstruction work on Side 3 began. In January 0083, the Delaz Fleet began developing new Mobile Suits and subsequently obtained intelligence regarding the Federation's development of new Gundams. In March, the Delaz Fleet began formulating their anti-Federation operational plan. By the end of July, the "Stardust" Operation was officially proposed. In early August, Maharanja Kahn, the leader of the asteroid Axis, died. His sixteen-year-old daughter, Haman Karn, became the regent for the young sovereign Mineva Zabi and signed a mutual aid treaty with the Delaz Fleet. At the end of September, the newly developed RX-78 Gundam GP01 and GP02, manufactured by Anaheim Electronics at their factory in Von Braun City on the Moon, were completed and transported to Torington Base in Australia on Earth.
