Haibane Renmei

A girl wakes up from a dream, suddenly aware that she is inside something soft, and hears a voice coming from the other side... Rakka discovers that a large "cocoon" is forming in one of the rooms at Old Home and hastily begins preparations. A new member of their kind is about to be born. Before long, as if guided by voices, a girl emerges from the cocoon. Rakka and the others (known as "Haibane," who have gray wings on their backs like angels and beautiful halos on their heads) are welcoming her. Because she had been dreaming of falling repeatedly, they name her Rakka. She indeed has wings on her back and is accepted as a member of the Haibane community. Under the protection of her fellow Haibane and the Haibane Renmei, Rakka lives a stable life in the small town. However, she cannot remember why she became a Haibane, what she truly is, or where she came from, which causes her great anxiety...
