The Box of Wanyu

Two beautiful young women, seemingly ethereal and detached from the mundane world, go together to a lakeside at night to view the moonlight. One of them unexpectedly falls from a vehicle and is seriously injured. Detective Kiba Shu, who happened to be riding on the same bus after work, takes over the case despite his exhaustion, only to discover that the injured girl's relative is an actress he has secretly loved for many years. While desperately suppressing his inner emotional turmoil, Kiba also finds himself deeply entangled in a complex case. After the injured girl is transported to a box-shaped building, she mysteriously vanishes before everyone's eyes... Writer Sekiguchi occasionally contributes material to the third-rate magazine "Monthly Record of Crime," which is currently investigating a dismemberment murder case at Lake Sagami. Editor Torikuchi and Sekiguchi team up to visit the scene, but they get lost along the way and stumble into a strange box-shaped building... The girl who vanished from her hospital bed, the dismemberment murder case at Lake Sagami, Kiba and Sekiguchi pursuing the investigation, and the peculiar box-like buildings—what connects them all? Do wanyu (evil spirits) truly exist only within the human heart?
