Eureka Seven

Renton Thurston is a seemingly ordinary fourteen-year-old boy. His father, Adrock Thurston, was a military researcher who sacrificed himself to save the Earth during the first "Seven Swell," earning him recognition as a hero by the world. However, Renton is deeply dissatisfied with his current life, where he lives alone with his grandfather, a mechanical engineer. His only hobby to pass the time is the popular sport known as "Surfing" (Lifting). His greatest dream is one day to join the organization "Gekkostate," led by the legendary surfing genius Holland Novak, and become an equally skilled surfer. Yet, his grandfather, Axel Thurston, hopes for him to become an excellent mechanical engineer and inherit the family business. Renton's boring life finally changes one day when a malfunctioning mysterious LFO, the Nirvash typeZERO, suddenly crashes into his grandfather's warehouse. The pilot of the LFO is a girl named Eureka, who asks Renton's grandfather to repair her LFO. Renton falls in love with Eureka at first sight, and during a battle against pursuing military forces, his astonishing performance repels the enemies, earning him the opportunity to join Gekkostate. However, after boarding the Gekko, he discovers that the reality of life on the ship is completely different from the glamorous image portrayed in the Ray=Out magazine. He finds it difficult to adapt to this harsh and dangerous lifestyle and combat, and even harder to gain acceptance from the other crew members. Nevertheless, his desire to protect and understand Eureka, whom he admires, remains unwavering. The story of Eureka Seven unfolds around the development of Renton and Eureka's relationship. As time passes, Renton grows significantly both mentally and in ability, gradually learning about the hidden pasts of the various crew members. To protect his loved one and this planet, he engages in battle after battle against their enemies; meanwhile, the secrets of this planet are slowly revealed before his eyes...
