Honey and Clover

Takemoto, Mayama, and Morita are art university students living in a dilapidated apartment, leading lives that are poor yet joyful. One day, their professor Hanabara introduces them to his cousin's daughter, Hagumi Hanamoto, a petite and adorable transfer student. Upon seeing the innocent and carefree Hagumi, Takemoto and Morita instantly fall in love with her. Takemoto is so simple-minded that it frustrates those around him, while Morita bewilders others with his enigmatic behavior. Amidst the interplay of these two men's diametrically opposed approaches to romance, neither Morita nor Takemoto, nor even Hagumi herself, realizes each other's feelings as time passes. On the other hand, Mayama remains haunted by Rika Komiya, an architect who lost her husband in a traffic accident. At the same time, he gradually becomes aware of the unwavering affection shown toward him by Yamada, a fellow student... Mayama hopes to fill the void in Rika's heart, but Rika finds Mayama's love burdensome, while Yamada is unable to show concern for anyone other than the man she loves, Mayama. Centered on these two complex love triangles where individuals struggle with longing and unrequited feelings, a sorrowful yet somewhat peculiar "story of one-sided love" begins to slowly unfold.
