Warning: The following text contains plot details that may reduce your enjoyment of the original work. In the story of "Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle," the first world is the desert city of Clow Country (translated as "Guro Country" by TVB). Years ago, the boy Syaoran followed his adoptive father, the archaeologist Fujitaka, to this country in hopes of excavating the nation's wing-shaped ruins to unravel the mysteries of Clow Country's history. Through this, Syaoran met the various people of Clow Country, including Princess Sakura, who had been his childhood friend. The two always harbored feelings for each other, but due to their differing social statuses, Syaoran never dared to confess. After Fujitaka passed away, Syaoran inherited his father's will and continued the excavation and research work. However, during a visit by Sakura and her brother, King Touya, the ruins suddenly began to fluctuate, causing Sakura's memories to turn into feathers and scatter into nothingness. The priest Yukito cared for the injured King Touya while telling Syaoran that Sakura's memory feathers had scattered across different dimensional worlds, and to save Sakura, he must collect them back. Thus, Yukito sent Syaoran to "Dimension Witch" Yuuko Ichihara, instructing him to ask Yuuko for a way to save Sakura. At the same time, Fai, a magician from the country of Celes who was fleeing from the Asura King, and Kurogane, a samurai banished from Japan by Princess Tomoyo, also came to Yuuko, hoping to obtain a method to traverse dimensions so they could continue their escape or return home. Yuuko then produced Mokona, which could take them through different dimensions, but the condition was an "equivalent exchange" using their most precious possessions. To continue escaping the Asura King, Fai gave up the special tattoo on his back; to return to Japan, Kurogane offered his special sword as payment; and to save Sakura, Syaoran sacrificed his "relationship" with her—meaning that even if he retrieved all of Sakura's feathers, she would not remember the times spent with him. And so, Syaoran, along with Princess Sakura, Kurogane, and Fai, embarked on a journey traversing various dimensions, fighting to retrieve Sakura's feathers. The story of "Tsubasa: Reservoir Chronicle" features many characters from CLAMP's past works. In different worlds, these characters lead different lives, but their "roots" (which can be seen as their nature or souls) remain the same; this setting is similar to that of the Jet Li film "The One." In the book "CLAMP Miracle," this concept is referred to as the "star system."
