This world is not far from ours; you might even see it as a mirror of modern society. Perhaps: no matter how humanity evolves, human nature remains unchanged, even if the shell housing that fragile humanity becomes a mechanical body. Regardless, in a society saturated with cybernetic enhancements, human desires are perpetuated and amplified, giving rise to related crimes. The Public Security Section 9, led by Aramaki, can essentially be considered the cleansing agent of Japanese society.
